GIFF Snapshots: Aspen Filmfest 2015

Fall is one of the most beautiful times to be in Aspen. As the crowds in town thin out, Aspen Filmfest opens the last week of September providing a great weekend for outdoor enthusiasts, movie lovers and gourmands to enjoy Aspen in all its Golden Glory.

Artistic Director Maggie Mackay has delivered a wonderful and robust program for Aspen Film’s 27th season. The opening documentary, “The City of Gold”, is a love story to the city of Los Angeles told through food criticism. The opening feature, “Room” is certainly worthy of all the Oscar buzz that is surrounding Brie Larson’s performance. Also notable is “Peggy Guggenheim Art Addict”, a fantastic documentary that gives texture to the life of a woman who has greatly impacted the art world.

Add a great film program, a beautiful venue to the mix of picturesque hiking trails and world class restaurants and you have a first class fall weekend retreat. We certainly enjoyed ourselves (except for the vertigo).
